Taste of the South.
After the success of the inaugural event, the visitor numbers anticipated for Taste of the South festival 2018 suffered and this has left traders and ourselves out of pocket.
This is disappointing for all who invested time and money, especially as the event achieved great local and national media coverage and a high footfall in year one.
Taste of the South returned in 2018 based on the positive feedback and the success of the previous year, with a high number of repeat bookings for stands from a diverse array of high quality traders which included artisans offering food, drinks, arts and crafts all from across the south and supported with a great line up of entertainers, high profile chefs, cookery demonstrations, educational activities and more.
On checking the local area, the beaches were packed, but the inland roads were very quiet, which is why we made the decision to make Sunday a free day. The public we met on arrival and departure were extremely positive about the event and said they hoped it would be back next year.
We are extremely sorry for the lack of visitor numbers. We will learn and develop from this event and we very much hope that we can work together again in the future.

Perfectly organized and great staff, thank you!”Rachel Reilly
“We visited all parts of the Festival and particularly enjoyed TOTS. I thought there was a really great mix of artisan food and drinks stands and it had a real ‘classy’ feel. Probably the best event I’ve ever been to in Poole Park and great for the town.
We both had lunch and the food was excellent. The greeting and security staff as well as the stall holders were all extremely friendly and pleasant. The weather was lovely and the lake in the backdrop looked stunning!
It was a brilliant event and congratulations to you and your team!”Ian Girling - Chief Executive DCCI
“Brilliant weekend! Loads to see, the atmosphere was amazing. Everyone enjoyed themselves.
I learnt some great tips about cooking from the chefs in the demo theatre! Can’t wait for next year!”Debbie Webster
